Happy New Year!

Went snowboarding with Gord and Kara on Saturday. First time I've gone in 2 years! I'm happy to say that there was no degradation in my skillz ;)

Christmas was good. I got a new tripod for my camera, thing this called Spot, a new flight bag, and some clothes.

The new job is going great. I've already did quite a bit in the two months that I've been here. There is still a lot of work to be done which is good as it will keep me busy.

In the next few weeks, I'm going to be putting up some items for sale. Some furniture, books, various nick-nacks... I'm thinking it of an online garage sale. I'm unsure which venue I want to display these items some are free like craigslist, kijiji, and facebook. While others like ebay cost money. We'll see.

I've installed some new light bulbs in the house. Got rid of 8 incandescents and replaced them with 12W CFLs. I don't know if all CFLs do this, but over time the colour temperature of the bulb changes. When I first turn the bulb on, the colour is much warmer than say 1-2 minutes later. Eventually we want to change all the fixtures in the house - when budget allows. By far, the biggest electricity user is the television, pvr, xbox. With all those cranked on, while I'm playing a video game, the whole system uses just over 400W at 1.5amps! At the current electricity rates, that works out to be about $40 a month. The problem is the PVR, which is on 24/7 and it draws about 80W.

I hope everyone has a great new year!

Merry Christmas!

I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays so far. They just started, I know, but I know a lot of people who've already been off for a few days (not me!)

I have all my x-mas shopping finally done. Had to do one last blast yesterday at Sherway Gardins with Melissa and her sister-in-law (?).

My parents are in Arizona for the week, and my brother is working until next Saturday. So I wont be seeing much of my family until the new year. Thats fine. I'll give mom a call on Christmas day, just have to factor in the timezone in Arizona. Are they pacific or central time?

Flying is going good. I've started flying multi-engine airplanes now, which also happen to be "complex" planes too (with landing gear and constant speed props). The weather this month has been shit for flying though. I also planned on taking up Melissas brother and his finance while they are down for x-mas. No dice.

Things have been pretty quiet the past month or so. They will be as well in the upcoming months as I try to endure the cold days of winter. We have a trip planned in March to Boston. I will probably get to snowboard at least once this year when I head to Tremblant with Mark to help him shoot a vid.

I finally got an account on what.cd. Its another private torrent site that sprung up with the demise of oink.cd (aka: oink.me.uk). It's slowly getting there as more and more people start seeding torrents. So now I'm on the lookout for some new music. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Different Shades Of White

We got a lot done this weekend. One of the things we needed to do was put up some Christmas lights on the house.

One of the things that I don't like about the new LED lights is that they are too cold. The old incandescent lights were a lot warmer. I'm not the only one apparently because Noma produces three different types of white LED lights.

We bought the ones marked "warm white" and put them up on the house. After they were all installed we turned them on a discovered that the ones at the top of the house are actually the "pure white" version. The box was mislabeled! I personally like the "pure white" version better so we're going to exchange the "warm white" ones for the "pure white" ones.

We bought some new furniture on Sunday. A three piece leather sofa set. They are delivering it today, can't wait to watch House on the new couch tonight, after I get a much needed haircut first.

Does anyone have an invite for waffles.fm or what.cd? If so, toss one this way.

New Job!

This past week has been stressful and hectic.

I ended my almost 6 year job at CBC and started a new job on Thursday. Got a new cell phone too, since CBC was paying for my old one. A blackberry 8310 (Blackberry Curve).

Everyone at work signed a card for me. Thank you all! I will be sending you guys a personal thank you in your email shortly :)

Tomorrow, Melissa and I are going to Buffalo to do some shopping. She suspects a 2 hour wait at the border, I said 45 minutes. We'll see who's right ;) We're leaving at 8am so should get there early enough to avoid the crowds.

I'm going to start writing in this thing again... its been dormant for way too long!

Welcome CBCers!

For the past six years of working at the Corp, I've hidden the existence of this blog to all but a small, small, handful of people (and even they didn't know the URL).

You wont find any juicy items about CBC in here. Just a more personal look into my life in the past eight or so years. For those of you who really wanted to take a look, I suggest you start with the archives on the right hand side. Try looking at some memorable dates (Like when I first started working at the corp [Feb 2002], etc..)
