Go Fishy Go!
Sunday, April 22, 2001 - 17:04:58 Permalink | On this day in 2000 It's been interesting, the past weekend with the Summit of the Americas being held in Quebec City. I was dissapointed in the lack of coverage on the cbc website. I ended up watching CBC Newsworld most of the time for the information I needed. As well cnn.com and news.bbc.co.uk had better online coverage than the CBC did. In a twist of irony, the RCMP was lauching tear gas into a crowd of protestors when one of them landed inside a CBC van, causing it to catch fire. This week is going to be a busy week in regards to deliveries coming to the house: Monday: Two DVDs I ordered from chapters.ca I hate coming home from work and seeing the "we missed you" (or as the english put it, a 'door knocker') sticker on the door. Then having to wait again so they can redeliver it. This will only be the case with laptop, since its being shipped via Purolator. With the other two packages, its being shipped via normal mail and the post office will hold it for me - they dont close until 9pm. Today was a really nice day, in the high teens, low twenties. I washed the pickup considering it was all dirty thanks to Gords suggestion ;) Him and I and Sal and his wife saw "Joe Dirt" last night. It had its funny parts, but nothing too exciting. I also brought my bike in to get fixed yesterday, it wont be ready until Thursday. My mom doesn't have wednesday off either - so I am going to be taking the taxi in to work all next week (except friday). I am going be going into work early tomorrow morning so that I can get a project I am working on done by that afternoon as we need to show the client. I did my first water change in the aquarium today, went smothly - for the most part. One of the fish started spazzing out and swimming really fast all over the place. I thought that maybe I didn't let the de-chlorinator sit long enough in the new water and maybe the cholorine was hurting the fish. When I was done filling up the tank, he was just sitting in the coner , breathing really fast. The other two fish were fine swimming around the tank. About 45 min later he was breathing normally but was still in the corner of the tank. I gave the glass a little tap and off he goes. He was the largest one too, I have no idea what happened. But next weekend when I do another change - I will keep special eye on him. I have also been keeping a close eye on the Ammonia levels, which have been below detectable levels ever since I added the fish in. Thats both good and bad. Good because ammonia is toxic to the fish. Bad because I need to develop a colony of bacteria, which eat on ammonia. I have the ammonia removing stage in my filter, which could be removing the precious ammonia that my dear bacteria need to grow. This weekend I am going to add three more leopard danios. This will bring the total up to six. See how that goes for two weeks or so, then I might add another two - not 100% sure if the tank will be big enough for six. These guys are still growing! There hasen't been any progress on the new website. Too busy with Infiniteloop stuff and work. Hopefully I will finish it up this week and launch it next weekend. The company I work for launched their new website on Friday. It was a cause for celebration at the office with Champaign and the traditional ringing of the chimes. It was also Mr. Old Sales guy's birthday, turned fourty. Someone took his photo and made "LOOK WHOS TURNING FOURTY" posters and posted them all over the town, and in the office. He was a good sport about it. Meh! I still need to clean my room, and do laundry - Maybe I will do a load tonight. Hopefully it will be warm enough to start throwing on my summer stuff :) Post a comment |
