Vrooom Vroooom!
Thursday, June 28, 2001 - 13:06:27 Permalink | On this day in 2006 | On this day in 2002 I'm at work right now - so this is going to be a super short entry. In about 5 hours, I will be picking up my new CAR! I'm so excited, also scared. So much paper work to take care of, not to mention the money I will be slapping down on the table. In the end, I think it will be worth it - so glad I got it for the weekend. This weekend is a long one :) Thanks to Canada's Birthday! The r00ling canuck land is turning 134 years old! So what am I doing for this momentous occasion? Absolutely nothing - just relaxing. Photos of the new car, plus my weekend at gords should be coming up either tonight or tomorrow. The Fast and the Slutty Wednesday, June 27, 2001 - 00:06:14 Permalink | On this day in 2003 man oh man. School must be out! Gord and I headed out to the movies to see "The Fast and the Furious". So many young girls running about giggling and laughing. It was kinda funny, half the people in the theather couldn't even drive - found it a little ironic. That movie made me want my car even more, man I can't wait! The movie was alright, I give it an eight out of ten! It kept me on the edge of my seat. Definately see it in the theater. Meh, nothing really much else to say. Weekend At Gords Sunday, June 24, 2001 - 22:06:33 Permalink | On this day in 2002 Thank god his name isn't Bernie. On Friday night, Gavin picked me up at home, and we headed to Haliburton - where Gord's Cottage is. The first night, we didn't end up going to bed until practically sunrise. The next day we went into town and had some lunch (mmMmMM The Enforcer!). Gord and I headed out on the boat for a little cruise. I took some pictures of wildlife, frogs, birds, etc.. The pictures should be up in the next week or so. When we got back from the boat ride, Josh and Dave showed up. Today we spent most of the day in or on the water. We all went to this bridge, where we would jump off into the water. It was AWESOME! Had so much fun. Thats where I probably got sunburnt, on a scale of one to ten - probably a seven. Except for my knees which is probably a nine out of ten, for some odd reason only my knees got burnt (instead of my whole leg), and they hurt like a bitch. As soon as Gavin dropped me off, I headed to Shoppers Drug Mart and picked up some soothing Solarcaine. Its a nice spray containing Lidocaine (yup, from the same family as Cocaine) and aloe vera, with nice Vitamin E. Soothing Lidocaine numbs the area, while the cooling action of the Aloe Vera makes you comfertable. Coupled with the moisterizing and skin replenshing qualities of Vitamin E, make this the best thing to toss on your sunburn. My main role during the event was probably keeping the fire going :) Every night we would have a bonfire where we would get together. I always eneded up keeping the baby stoked with tasty wood :D I had a GREAT time this weekend, kudos to Gord and his family for letting a bunch of drunk roudy boys stay at their cottage for a few days. Im surprised Bryna made it through in one piece, being the only girl - she's awesome! I really hope we can do this again some time. I was kinda dissapointed when I didn't get a message from the car dealership, also kinda glad. The longer it takes for the car to get here, the less money I need to borrow from my parents :D I'm also sick of peddling my bike to work each day as well. At least its good excersise! Gord and Bryna got passes to the Leasure Complex, their plan is to work out each day to get into shape. I was thinking about getting one for the winter time - which will be nice and keep me shape :D It sucks going by yourslef though - so I might be able to go with my brother, need to talk to him about it. I am going to have to spend the next few days mailing my zip drive, plus reinstalling everything on my laptop - because of my new hard drive. I hope this week goes by nicely. Can't wait for the long weekend coming up - Canada Day! w00t Beer, HappyHardcore, Cars Wednesday, June 20, 2001 - 00:06:37 Permalink | On this day in 2005 Bah, I wrote heaps of stuff, but my browser froze and I lost it all. MEH! I went to see Amy, Dave, and Allan for dinner tonight in the city - had a great time! Catching up on old times, was so good. I heard back from the dealership - turns out the make/model I wanted isn't available, and I would have to wait 6 MONTHS! if I were to order it from the factory. I settled in a Indigo Blue, with black interior and a/c, rather than Hunter Green, with tan interior and sunroof. I should be getting it this weekend!!! Yeah, I know - Ottawa pictures still arn't up yet, I will do that soon. I will also be posting a huge ass journal entry this weekend, I just wish the first verison of this one wasn't lost :/ My happy hardcore shoutcast stream is going GREAT. I keep adding new music to it every week. If you want to listen, open up winamp, press ctrl+L and enter: stream.infiniteloop.ca:12370 ! I need to find more bandwidth for it, since right now only 5 users can listen at a time. I will also be throwing up a website for it soon too. I've been bitten! Monday, June 18, 2001 - 08:06:00 Permalink | On this day in 2003 Yup, just now the travel bug as bitten me in my fat ass once again! Someone just told me this morning, that they wanted to go travelling and wanted to go with me. That just made my morning :) I had a wicked time in Ottawa, still haven't uploaded the photos yet. Will soon :) I still haven't heard back from the car place yet about my Golf. I am going to give them a call this avro, and hopefully they will have some idea of when I should expect it to arrive. I so can't wait Meh, need to get ready for work - this was just a quicky. Greetings from Ottawa Saturday, June 16, 2001 - 19:06:02 Permalink | On this day in 2002 Man, I haven't been here in a long time. Last I was here was in grade 8 (or 7), with my school - in the winter time. This place is MUCH better in the summer. I took some photos of the city and parlament buildings. I am spending the weekend here, with my parents for Fathers Day - since my dad is working in Ottawa for the month or so. Tonight we are going out to dinner, probably someplace in the city. Tomorrow morning, going to have some brunch. The drive up was pretty uneventful, stupid mom had to go to the bathroom three times. This was the first time that I used my "Microsoft Streets & Trips" program. I wanted it to plot the fastest way to Ottawa! Turns out, the route that it choose was perfect, and we arrived 30 mins before the program predicted we would arrive. Had I still had my GPS unit, I could have hooked it up and it would have tracked our posistion on the map. You can take a look at the route we took at here. I also factored in the stop at McDonalds (to drop my brother off at work) and the stop at Country Style to get some brekky. The only problem that I discovered is that on two occasions it told us to exit off a highway, which wasn't exitable. I guess it assumes since the roads cross, you can turn right/left onto them. Silly microsoft. Turns out my friend Andrew has a website now! Head on over to www.modulus.org. I miss that guy. Sue needs to update her journal, she hasn't in 16 days! I have been streaming happy hardcore tunes for the past week online. If you want to hear it, open up winamp and go to stream.infiniteloop.ca:12370 . If you have any happy hardcore songs that you want played on the net, email me and I will let you know how you can upload them :) Summer Goodness Wednesday, June 13, 2001 - 13:06:38 Permalink | On this day in 2003 Yesterday was such a beautiful day! I spent most of my night after work in the city. I was down on Front Street because I had to fix one of my machines that I have hosted there. It was a nice drive, had the windows open, and Fragma playing on the cd player. Also talked to Mark on the phone for about an hour, catching up. I missed talking to him. He went to Arts Camp to help out some teachers last week, he had a great time. I tried to convince him to go to the city with me next week for dinner with Amy and Dave. I got an email from Toni last night - I really miss that girl. Trying to convince her to come visit Canada :D I just hope I can get the time off work if she does decide to visit. This weekend is supposed to be nice and hot: 35C or so. It's funny, living in Australia for a year with temperatures like that every day during the summer time - summer here in Toronto just doesn't seem the same anymore. cat /etc/master.passwd Saturday, June 9, 2001 - 22:06:43 Permalink | On this day in 2004 | On this day in 2002 I didn't end up getting up today until around 12:30 or so. I was up until 3am last night talking to my friends in Australia and downloading some music. Buttagal kindly gave me some more r00ling house mp3s as well, THANKS GIRL :) Everything with Sue and I are all nice now. I decide to take my parents out to the movies tonight. My dad has been out of town for the previous weeks (and will continue to be for a few more) so I wanted to spend some time with him. We had Sushi for dinner, then headed off to see Operation: SwordFish. It was a pretty good movie - but see it for the action only. The tech side of it was pretty weak, they did, however, mention some real life people/events. (possible spoiler) Although his first name was different, Torvalds was shot in the movie :D I guess thats what you get for inventing Linux. I am not sure what I am going to do the rest of the night. I might work on my new website, or I might work on Infinite Loop stuff. I am most likely going to play some Counter Strike though. I had a ... uhrm... err. .. well, lets just say a "sexually charged" dream last night involving me and Lindsay. Guess it just reinforces how I feel about her. I actually woke up, out of breath and sweating - thats how intese it was. I guess partially the reason why the dream was so good, is because I KNOW that will never happen in real life. My First Car :D Thursday, June 7, 2001 - 22:06:15 Permalink I think I might have just made the biggest mistake of my life! I was all excited driving down to the car dealership. Had my music blasting over the speakers - it was a nice day, sunny and 22C. Spent about an hour or so at the dealership going over the terms and what exactly I am buying. I put a nice security deposit down, and headed home! Looks like I am locked in for the next four years! I am still not sure if I am going to purchase the car after the four years or not. What worries me the most is the fact that I am locked in for four years paying off the car. It's the largest purchase I have ever done in my life. It can do nothing but help my credit rating :) So what exactly am I getting? A 2001 Volkswagen Golf GL, 2 door - 2L engine, 75kW (115HP) with a sunroof and cd player. Dark green, with a cream colour interior. 5 Speed Manual, baby! Today was hell. Had to get up at 4am, so that I could be in the city at 5, to help set up for a conference. Went home early, at around 12:30 or so, just relaxed - took it easy. ugh, must sleep. so tired. Short Entry #2 Tuesday, June 5, 2001 - 13:06:28 Permalink | On this day in 2005 | On this day in 2003 | On this day in 2002 I have been talking to Kat all morning - about life and other goodness. She made me realise how much I missed Australia. Ever since I got back, I just haven't felt the same about life in general. Everything was pretty much perfect there. I think my biggest problem here, is that I dont live in the city - it's a pain for me to get to work each day. Life and work would be great if it wasn't such a hassel to get to where you need to go. So Blake's current mood now: Save up and go travelling some more, forgetting about the car he was about to purchase. Life really was much more simpler when you are in school. I really do regret ever thinking "stupid school, so which I was out working at a r00ling job". Pay it forward Monday, June 4, 2001 - 21:06:33 Permalink The idea is that you do something BIG for three people. You help them out, in return, they pay it forward - to three other people. It was an excellent movie, with Kevin Spacey and Helen Hunt. My weekend was pretty uneventful, went out with the family for my brothers birthday on Saturday night. I gave him a cordless phone, which he seemed to like. I'm not really in the mood to write heaps in todays entry. Just haven't really been in the mood. Ups and Downs Friday, June 1, 2001 - 10:06:52 Permalink | On this day in 2005 | On this day in 2003 | On this day in 2002 I pissed off a good friend last night. The last time I really offended someone was my best friend Mark, in grade ten. We were fighting about courses to take in the future and he was wondering why I didn't take "keyboarding" or "computer science" at all - you know, since computers are the wave of the future. I replied how those courses are a waste of time, I already know how to use a keyboard/computer. The argument then escalated, where I somewhat pushed him down the stairs in my frustration. Our friendship never has really been the same since then - we grew apart, became friends with other people. Of course eventually we started talking again and everything was alright. (on an interesting side note, mark mentioned a month ago that what I had said about it being a waste of time - was 100% true). I hope Sue can forgive me! I actually started writing this entry on my laptop, but never finished it. It mainly was about how Canadians should be lucky how they can afford such luxery things as cars! The price I am willing to pay for a new car is what some people make in a life time! According to the World Bank, 2.8 Billion people make less than $2 a day. That works out to be $730 a year, if the worker decides to work every day out of the year. It would take him/her 41 years to earn the same amount of money I do in about a year. It's amazing how the human condition allows people to survive on ANYTHING. I am starting to have second thoughts about this setle down, buy car, work for a few years plan. I really honestly want to see the rest of the world RIGHT NOW. Visit Sue and Toni in England, see France, Italy, Spain. Tour the rainforests of South America. Not to mention the deserts and villages in Africa, and taste the delicacies of Asia. In a way I kind of regret going to Australia first, it would have been a nice place to end my world tour and just stay there rather than return to Canada. Yesterday, Pascal was homesick. He has been living in Australia for 15 years now, but wanted to return to France - his parents are there now. I can sympathise with him, when you are away from home (whether it be 1 or 15 years) you get bouts of homesickness. You can have a family, a wife/husband - a wicked job and killer friends. But nothing, NOTHING AT ALL will compaire to being back in your home country. It's hard to see why people are so patriotic and have strong feelings about their home country until you go traveling. I have always regretted not going to University, I dissapointed my parents. I still feel that I have learnt more by travelling and seeing how other people live/work. I may not have a piece of paper that says I completed formal education, what I have experienced is much more than any University can give me. |
