Busy Busy Blake
Tuesday, February 26, 2002 - 23:02:04 Permalink | On this day in 2005 | On this day in 2001 Hrmm.. Even on my days off, I am super busy! I am off from the CBC tomorrow and thursday. So Wednesday night, Sarah is going to come over to my house for dessert, and to just chill/hang out. Thursday, Lindsay and I are going to chill, maybe get dinner. I haven't seen Lindsay in AAAAAGES, so its going to be nice to hang with her this week. I hope my car is still in the parking lot. Heh, I sorta didn't pay for parking. Schon is all alone at York Mills. Ugh! I think I would rather pay the $12 for parking and have my car with me (in the same building) than pay $4.50 and take the ttc to get to my car. I was watching the news, and they were saying that there is some bad weed going around up where I live. People were passing out, puking, even one guy was hospitilized. Gotta warn my brother :) What a weekend! Sunday, February 24, 2002 - 23:02:48 Permalink | On this day in 2006 | On this day in 2005 | On this day in 2001 It's been a pretty crazy weekend. Lots of things to think about. It started at 2:30 pm on friday, when I picked Liz up at the subway station. We headed back to my place. We spent the whole weekend together, watched movies and a little family guy. Mark popped over, but he decided he would have more fun talking with my brother and his friends, so we went to bed. The next day (Saturday) wasen't too exciting, headed into work late :( Traffic was horrendus. I spent about 30 minutes alone on Egligton, trying to get to the subway station from the DVP. Pretty much spent the whole day thinking about my future employment. Don't want to say much here, yet. Today, didn't do much either. Had to fix my computer. Right now I am at work, keeping an eye on things. Watching the closing ceremonies right now. Nothing exciting. What did I think of the Winter Olympics? Not much. I have been working hard during the games. Canada has done the best ever with 17 medals, fourth place overall. I'm super glad that we won medals in both Womens and Mens hockey. Being in Sydney during the 2000 Summer Games, I know what its like to be there. I somewhat want to visit a winter olympics as well, perhaps italy in 2006? I'm somewhat depressed again. I really want to go snowboarding. Haven't had the chance since the end of January. Need to get back outside, on the slopes where I am happy. 30 minutes until I go home.. Wireless Goodness Wednesday, February 20, 2002 - 01:02:04 Permalink | On this day in 2001 hehehe.. yippee! I am totally mobile now. My wireless card arrived in the mail today. Works excellent with my Linksys WAP11 Access Point. I went war driving today. Kinda weird surfing the internet in your car parked. So many people have their own networks wide open. Just hop on, get an IP address (via DHCP) and away you go. Heh, I went so far to change one persons "residential gateway" so that its name was changed to h4x0red. The fact that the name was 'default' when I found it tells me that the user is probably not even going to notice the name change. I did find one interesting place that I would mind spending more time "listening" on the network though. The cool thing about this place is that there is a park nearby, so I will look less suspicious with my laptop if I just sit on a bench and packet sniff away! Aritzial is raving about a cd she got. She has pretty good taste! I am listening to some audio track samples from their website, pretty good. Might go out and actually buy my self a copy of the cd. That is of course she doesn't want to rip the cd for me *hint hint* ;) Newsy Goodness Sunday, February 17, 2002 - 22:02:01 Permalink | On this day in 2003 | On this day in 2001 Had a good time last night. Liz and I went out to see a movie! Heart's War. It wasen't bad, definately not what I thought it was going to be but good nonetheless. It was nice to see her! Was a spurr of the moment thing, we decided to go see the 1am show at like 11pm (while I was still at work!). I didn't end up getting home until around 5pm or so. It's been quiet at CBC the past few days. They patched the web servers, so they have been crashing a lot lately. I have been keeping busy though! Right now I am working on a little news portal. Pretty much going to be useless for anyone else but me. It will have world news, nice statistics for my servers/machines. Links to journals I read (and if possible, when the last time they were updated). Blasted computers! Thursday, February 14, 2002 - 10:02:16 Permalink | On this day in 2001 Ugh, it's been super busy the past three/four days! I am driving a nice Mazada Protege (pffft!) as my rental car while Schön is getting fixed (remember that guy that hit me in the parking lot?). The car is alright. Automatic though, so I have to re think about "gunning it to beat the yellow" as this thing has no balls to it at all. I am about to throw both of my computers out of the window. I am trying to get my desktop to stream the olympics so that my friends and I can watch them. The problem I am having is that windows media encoder doesn't want to be able to use my ATI All In Wonder 128 as a capture device. It keeps on saying "a device attached to the system is not functioning". I reinstalled windwos from scratch (on to a new hard drive I had laying around) still nothing. MY other computer, is a slow piece of shit Celeron 300. The cdrom is totally fucked in that it only seems to want to work at 1x. So I have to go and fix that for my mom (its in the restaurant). I was supposed to go to Vahaun(sp) and pick up Liz Valentines day pressy. I didn't (as I was occupied with trying to get these shitty computers doing what I want them to do). Will take care of that today. argg, going to be late for work! A room number on every door! Saturday, February 9, 2002 - 20:02:05 Permalink | On this day in 2005 Hah.. I love this building. Every single door has a room number. The bathroom, the hallway, even the place to put your jackets has some sort of room identification number. I'm suprised each stall in the bathroom doesen't have a number on it as well! Lunch with Liz was good. Had it at the Pickle Barrel (Yonge and Dundas I beleive). She's such a slow eater ;) Not to mention a picky one! She munched on some tasty Fish and Chips, and I had a soup and salad. We then headed to HMV where I got "The Fifth Element" DVD. We perused a shop full of posters, then headed back to the eaton centre. I want to talk to her, but my stupid icq/msn is down. I am using my box at home as a socks proxy while I am at work (silly firewall doesn't allow anything but your standard ports out [80, 21, 23, etc..]). Well, all of a sudden my box dropped off the face of the internet! I think it might be because I edited its /var/db/dhclient.leases file :/ I really hope it didn't get a new IP address! I did get a new modem which has totally helped with my bandwidth issues. However I did get a new ip address, and I am hoping its just as static as my old one. If not, then I am in a little bit of trouble (since a few name servers and some hosts use that box as a backup mx). I got Liz valentines day pressy yesterday, should arrive soon! I also got the Black Hawk Down cd today too... yipee. Hrm.. hungry, but not sure if I should go eat silly SubWay again! hrm... maybe I will only get a six inch sub, in order to save nice cash! CBC Goodness Tuesday, February 5, 2002 - 21:02:29 Permalink | On this day in 2006 | On this day in 2001 Right, so I am at CBC now. Nothing too exciting happening. I just spent the past hour or so trying to set up a socks proxy server so that I can ICQ/MSN/AIM/Y! out of this building (nice firewall prevents it). I got that working, so I just have to remember to change my trillian settings once I get home again. The parking lot here is 100% automated. You get your ticket, then before you leave, you stick the ticket inside the machine and you pay. The problem is, I left my ticket in the car. So that means I have to go all the way down to my car, then all the way back up to pay. Then head back down to my car and leave. Silly me. Heeeheheehehe watching BBC news from inside the CBC building.. The tension mounts! Saturday, February 2, 2002 - 15:02:20 Permalink | On this day in 2005 | On this day in 2003 I'm sitting here, still damp from the shower I just got out of. Towel around my body, keeping me warm. I just finished cleaning my room, well 90% of it. There are still some things I need to take care of. After this entry (and getting dressed), I am heading to the mall to get my much needed hair cut. I woke up today at 5am sneezing, and sneezing, and sneezing. I tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't. I ended up staying awake until 7:30am when I stopped sneezing. I got up at 10am, sneezing like crazy again. It hasn't stopped, until now (3pm). My throat, lungs, and diaphram are so sore from all this sneezing. I searched through the house for some antihistamine, but coulden't find any. I don't know why I was sneezing like a mad man - its never happend to me before! I'm going out with Lisette tonight. The plan is: I hope everything goes well. I dont see why it woulden't. She's a smart and fun person to be with (at least online). So unless she has a totally different personality in person - I think we are going to have fun! Snowboarding last night was AMAZING. The conditions where perfect, and it was snowing the whole time we were on the slopes. The drive up (and back) was an adventure though. White-outs, snow covered roads, and idiots who dont know how to drive in slippery weather all made the drive back slow and tedious. I'm glad Mark was in the car with me to keep me company, otherwise it would have been an insanely boring 1.5 hour drive. My riding skills have improved a lot! I didn't fall once! Well.. I did fall, but that was at the chair lift, right in front of a group of people. All I hear is "pffft" from one girl - fucking bitch. Heh... As we were leaving, there were these two girls packing up their car (like us) that Mark says one of them looked like Julia Stiles. Both him and I would glance over there. I caught them glancing at us as well. It was one of those "doing the same thing at the same time at the same place" situations. They had just finished skiing, we had just finished snowboarding. Both of us were getting changed and packing the car. They were the same age as Mark and I. Will never see them again though. All it took was pretty much a "hello", but neither of us said anything. Aww well. |
