Sunday, February 23, 2003 - 23:02:10 Permalink | On this day in 2006 It's been an interesting weekend, which, in my generosity will share with you now. Friday was interesting. After all the hum-drum I ended up spending the night at my place with Gord, Arden, Brian, and Brian! Had drinkies and some pizza. Mark headed down to the city with Damon et al. He had a great time there. The original plan was to hit the slopes Saturday afternoon. We decided against that because of the poor driving conditions. We ended up getting around thirty centimeters of snow! Instead we just chilled at home, then headed to a local bar. By the time we got there most of everyone was already either drunk or stoned. After about 20 minutes, Gord wasn't feeling to well so I decided to drive him home. While trying to get out of the parking lot, my little Golf got stuck in the snow. Gord was able to push me out. It was so funny because I also hit this car on the way out. Nothing major, no scratches or anything. We decided to stop at a convenience store to pick up some chips and salsa. Thats when gord decided to uhm... void his stomach :) I actually had a better time sitting in the car, shooting the shit with Gord, eating chips and salsa, then I did at the bar. After about an hour or so, I picked up Mark and Alex. We headed back to Gords place and made one of the tastiest omelets I have ever had. It's amazing how good food tastes at 2am. Sunday after work I was posed on going snowboarding with the boys. That didn't pan out. Well, we made it half way! Nobody wanted to drive in this weather, so I volunteered to drive the gang up. We were greeted with a "Road Closed" sign on highway 26. Thats the first time i've seen a road closed due to weather (well, there was also an accident apparently). On the drive back we got some food at Caseys, then dropped Gord off. Mark and I still had that itch to go snowboarding, so we went to a local park to carve up the 10 second slopes :P I got a taste of true powder :P It was gay but fun at the same time. It was a fun weekend. Especially with all the snow. I'm sure this is going to last us a few weeks for sure and extend the riding season well into March. It's getting late. I want to write more, but I should sleep. Good Night! 7 Languanges with a side of PhD. Wednesday, February 19, 2003 - 23:02:23 Permalink | On this day in 2005 We got pulled into a meeting today to let us know about our new "managing director of new media". My new boss! Turns out he knows how to speak seven languages and has a PhD. in Artificial Intelligece. Andy had something amusing to say to that: 11:08PM =Andys= new canuck asshole boss: I sure hope he doesn't rid of my two babies :) Workout today was pretty good. Saw some new faces there tonight (some of them hotties). For some reason I was NOT able to go the full twenty minutes on the treadmill tonight. I starting feeling REALLY tired and shitty at T minus four minutes. I tried my best to keep running, but alas I gave up after sixteen minutes. This is odd, considering I Had one of the best naps ever on the train ride in. It has warmed up considerably today. Was in the low single digits! Finally getting to be more normal temps. FUCK! I just remembered I need to move my car! I got a parking ticket yesterday.. first one all season. Just over a month left before I can park on the street again! Sleep time. Picnic Table Goodness Monday, February 17, 2003 - 23:02:16 Permalink | On this day in 2002 | On this day in 2001 Was a pretty good weekend. Headed to Amys for a get-together on Saturday. Pictures are available for your viewing pleasure. Sunday was dedicated to Snowboarding. It was one of the coldest days (this year) that I have gone. I had a good time though, considering I haven't been in 2 weeks. Called the insurance company today. I will most likely be getting my cheque to get the new laptop by the end of this week. Nothing really else new or exciting happening. Happy Birthday Kat! Oh yeah, I might be buying Toms nice iPod.. w00t w00t! Arriving on Track 12 Tuesday, February 11, 2003 - 22:02:39 Permalink The Valentines have been sent out! Check your e-mail! (apologies to those who I didn't get one) It's been some pretty crazy weather lately! Was down to -18C this morning. Good news on the Mark front. He got that job!!! w00t w00t. Some benfits include: - Jewness factor decreases greatly So thats good. It was also good to see Gord today! I havn't seen him since last week's movies ("Narc"). Workout today was good. I have altered my cardio slightly (I started doing this last week). 10 minutes on the treadmill at 2% gradient, then another 10 minutes at 0%. Starting next Monday, i'm going to push that up to 30 minutes total. I only have one break (for 30 seconds). Right now I have elected to do that at the half way point. I haven't been on the rowing machine or stairmaster for the longest time. I still have a lot of work to do, to get the image/body shape I want. However, I am happy with my progress. So the plans for this weekend are to be the following: Once again, some heated debates in the discussion forum. Check it! Zeta Psi Honeys Are Fine! Saturday, February 8, 2003 - 04:02:07 Permalink Congrats to Brosie! She just got her VW Jetta! w00t w00t! I was supposed to go Snowboarding today, but plans changed. I headed down to the city with Mark to keep him company for his second interview to that job he so desperately wants (needs?). He only reminds me every freak'n 5 minutes that he wants the job! We headed back home and after about an hour or so, Damon called. He invited us for dinner at Erics place (yup, back in the city). So we headed back to the city. What we did next, I never thought I would ever do in my life. We headed to a frat party at U of T (Zeta Psi). Damon knew someone there who invited him. They all payed $15 to get in, since I was DD (and wasn't drinking - no cover for me). Damon macked it up of course. I wasn't really in the mood to be chatty with the ladies. The music wasn't to my liking either. Don't get me wrong, I still had a good time. Let's just say I was glad to leave when they kicked us out (at 2am). I started ripping some of my older cds, like the Mortal Kombat soundtrack. Bringing back old memories when I listen to that. I'm starting to populate my "full albums" mp3 collection (for that mp3 project I'm working on). I'm hoping that Sue will kindly upload her Kylie albums (when the times comes). You guys can get a sneak peek at what the interface is going to look like at http://gateway.infiniteloop.ca/ (test/test). Nothing works yet, so dont bother trying to do anything :) Well the search sorta works, but its mostly test data in there. So, Laura is in town and she hasn't called me yet. She will, soon (I hope). Currently, i'm not really in the mood to go riding tomorrow. Not sure if that will change when I wake up though. If I don't decide on going, it will most likely be a geek day. If Laura calls, I will probably be hanging with her. Speaking of Laura. I got my 407 bill today. Cost me just over $8 for the toll to go from the QEW to Bathurst. (76.84 kilometres). It did save me a crap load of time though (like 45-60 minutes). So My drive was only two hours instead of three hours. The ETR is far superior than any of the shitty toll systems I saw in Sydney (or in the States). There is no need to slow down when going on or off the highway. I can speed in at 120kms/h and I will still get charged (via a camera taking a picture of my license plate [or from a transponder if you have one]). Poke around here for more info. Fuck, 4:30am.. must sleep "CLEAR!" Tuesday, February 4, 2003 - 22:02:44 Permalink Some poor guy had a "heart attack" at the Gym today (quotes because thats what people were saying, I don't know that for a fact). I fell sorry for him. He's at the gym to try to prevent such things. Am I too geeky because I wear my "chick dig unix" t-shirt when I go to the Gym? I think i'm going to ask for a raise when my contract comes up for renewal. I also think I am going to make a doctors appointment about my hand. As things seem to be getting worse :/ For some reason I cant do and SSL stuff from my box to another host. I'm blaming my ISP I'm not in a writing mood :/ Farting, D2, Valentines Monday, February 3, 2003 - 20:02:41 Permalink | On this day in 2004 | On this day in 2001 There is some very interesting discussion going on in the Burnt Ring Forums about Valentines Day. I specifically like the point brought up by one of my friends Girlfriends: "Valentine's Day rallies hordes of the pathetic and confused to stationery stores seeking the embroidered plush toy that most represents their deepest emotions. In my opinion, if you wanted to show someone you cared, you should make sure you do it with gusto. Any idiot could show up with a handful of flowers he pinched from the neighbor's yard, but it took some sort of romantic genius to find out a girl's favorite song, get on top of the building next door and have a three piece band sing it to her." So true. Read the whole discussion, its good. So I found out today that possibly the same theif that stole my laptop, also stole my boss' shoes! Shoes?! C'mon! I also moved desks again. One of my coworkers quit and his desk was available. It's right under the cooling/heating duct that goes along the windows. No wonder they call this "pneumonia alley" (sp). The move to the 1st/8th floor has been postponed. Not sure why. Its weird! When I have my headphones on I am totally oblivious to my outside surroundings. Especially at work. Because of this, I tend to "let my self go" without thinking if anyone is around me. Belch, fart, cough, etc.. I got caught today though :/ I was sitting at my desk working away, listening to good 'ole Groove Salad when I let one rip (a fart). Whoops. We all got a good laugh though :) Its RAINING! Melting away all the snow. Hopefully its not doing this up north though. Even so, the thick 100cm base should last a while :) I saw the video Mark cut with the footage we took on Saturday. Pretty good! Mine is not going to be that good, but then again, i've haven't cut anything in YEARS! Must find a copy of Diablo 2 for Mac. Here comes the CLAW! Sunday, February 2, 2003 - 21:02:24 Permalink | On this day in 2005 | On this day in 2002 My left hand doesn't seem to be getting any better. I was watching myself type yesterday and noticed that I pretty much only use one finger to do all the typing on the left hand side of the keyboard. Thats probably why my left hand feels like crap all the time now.. Carpal Tunnel - here I come! Because of this, i've started to type the "right way". Forcing myself to say on the home row and try to use more than one finger on the left hand to type away. This has effectively reduced my typing speed to a crawling 20 wpm (from 80). I decided to take the camera out snowboarding on Friday. Everyone loved the pictures, got good feedback. I still think they could be better. Especially with the action shots. The motion blur sucks. Take a peek here. Its funny how retarded Texans are (no offense Brosie!). I didn't realize how red-neck they were until I started listening to the interviews news agencies were conducting to eye witlessness to the Shuttle disaster. The weather is starting to get warmer :) Well, warmer than it was in January :) Staying just above zero this whole week :) Im starting to cut together some footage I captured with Mark at Blue Mountain on Saturday. I spent about an hour today trying to find that right tune. Im still not sure if what I ended up using is going to stay :) Twelve days until the big V-Day... are YOU doing anything? |
