Parking Tickets
Wednesday, November 26, 2003 - 22:11:25 Permalink | On this day in 2002 So things have been finalized with the condo. The little red "sold out" dot has now been placed on my unit at the sales centre. I had to take care of some more paper work. Lawyer suggested that I get them to make some changes. I took the King Street streetcar from work, travel time: 10 minutes! w00t! Up until Spadina, we had to battle with traffic, after that, between 4-7pm, the streetcar lane is restricted to cars! Not exchanging gifts this year with the parents for Christmas. We all agreed on this decision. I personally dont care. Saves me from having to go Christmas shopping, I can save my money, plus my parents aren't even here for Christmas! I wonder if my room is going to stay this messy until I move out. I had to cancel dinner with Sarah tonight, because of the above condo paperwork. Hopefully we can meet up again next week. Cara got another parking ticket last night. She's three for three (every time she stays over). Aurora has this retarded By-Law that states between Nov 15 and April 15, during 2am to 6am, there is no parking allowed on the streets (By-Law No. 3377-92 Section 5.4(a)). Some other retarded parking By-Laws in our town: Im tempted to start a petition to get the no parking between 2am and 6am bylaw changed. I just need to do some more research to see what other towns are doing. iTunes, No Snow, Work Friday, November 21, 2003 - 21:11:18 Permalink I love coming home from work, stepping into my room and I can still smell the perfume that Cara wears when she was over the night before. Work is crazy. I'm becoming really frustrated with my manager. I really dont think he's pulling his own weight. He's not really doing any work, but just passing it on to everyone else. We are already short staffed as it is. I know he doesn't mind getting his hands dirty - since he used to work on projects in the past. I hope this is just a phase. Still no snow :( I just got a letter from Blue Mountain today about the process I need to go through for my park pass. Don't have to sit and watch a silly movie, but just fill out a silly "test". The answers are pretty obvious. I've attempted to write my own applescript. It's so that I can display the current song i'm listening to on my new website. It's pretty easy, check it:
Nice shell script. However, I want it to be triggered by itunes on each track change. I'm not sure how to do that though :/ It's Friday night and i'm home alone, on the computer. Going to head over to Andrews place when the elections rehearsal at work is done. Too bad, so sad! Saturday, November 15, 2003 - 20:11:13 Permalink I should be happy and excited, I just bought my own place! So why am I sad and depressed? Mark is coming over and I'm heading into the city with Damon and him. Going to Bart's place, he's having yet another get together. I'm hoping this can cheer me up! Cara spent the day with her mom at the Royal Winter Fair today - I miss her. I wonder what she's doing tonight :) There is this pretty funny memo that my old boss passed around (I think before I was hired). I'm debating putting it online so the whole world can laugh at it. It explains why my dept. had so many issues in the past. When is the snow going to stop melting :( Soon to be Homeowner! Thursday, November 13, 2003 - 00:11:07 Permalink So I spent the past two hours with my parents tonight, talking about the condo that I want to buy. They are 100% supporting my decision and I think they are as excited as I am about the whole thing. I'm going to be going back on Saturday to get a copy of the contract/condo agreement and to go over it with myself and parents. Down payment is going to be made on Sunday! (If all goes well). I've already started looking for things to buy to put in this place :) Volley Volley Volley Ball! Tuesday, November 11, 2003 - 22:11:17 Permalink | On this day in 2005 Had today off.. Yay for Remembrance day. Most people have to work that day. But Since I work for a Crown Corporation (read, government) it's a stat holiday for me. Cara made a surprise visit today, she had to pick up some stuff. We spent an hour or so playing Nintendo.. I got going at Animal Crossing. It's a cool game, but Cara was saying that it's pretty repetitive. I had a great time playing volley ball tonight. 2 Hours at Williams for $11. At first I thought that the game was going to be a slow mover (by the type of people I saw playing). I was wrong (and shame on me for placing stereotypes ;) ). Mark fucked his shoulder (old war injury) so was out for an 45 min or so - sucked bad. It's definitely a change from the gym, and I am probably going to sign up for 11 weeks come January. I'm starting to think about my "After Christmas Christmas Party". Parents are going out west for xmas, so I might throw a small shindig. Get some tasty food going. Stay tuned for details. I'm also looking for a second job, I need some cash badly. This is mainly due to the fact that i'm getting hit with a double whammy. Car payment (end of lease) AND mortgage payments all have to start at the same time. There are no available shift at 'nook, so i'm going to be looking elsewhere. IF anyone out there needs someone to do shit work, part time - let me know! White Fluffy Goodness Saturday, November 8, 2003 - 12:11:09 Permalink | On this day in 2001 It snowed last night! The first "large" (and in my books) official snow fall of the season. Yippee! Mark and I were tossing snowballs last night. I was not surprised when I woke up this morning with the white fluffy stuff gone. There is this person at work who sent a really stupid email the other day. But first, some back story. About 3 or 4 weeks ago, a spammer found an exploit in one of the "formmail" cgis we have at work. He or She was able to send about 300,000 messages before we noticed what was going on and put a stop to it. In the mean time, some websites needed to have that functionality turned back on. As a temporary replacement we installed another cgi (called Soupermail, which rocks by the way). The new policy was that you were able to use this new CGI only if your case warrented it (it was a contest, or was an urgent request). In the mean time, owners were asked to replace their forms with mailto: links. The past few weeks the devs were hard at work putting together an in-house solution (in java no doubt). When this email floated past by boss: Hello all, The second last paragraph is what irked my boss (and my self). Operations (my dept) would gladly set you up with the new cgi if you just ask. Because we are tightening up security, there is a little more overhead and time required to set up the new cgi. As for not letting other departments know when a replacement is going to be available... well I think that's a problem with my boss not communicating with other depts. whats going on. We clearly gave him a timeline on when things were going to be done. Grrrr... e-mails like that just frustrate me to no end. me@doingnothing.com Thursday, November 6, 2003 - 21:11:45 Permalink | On this day in 2005 I am noticing more and more people using me@domainname as their e-mail address. I just want to state right now, for the record, that I was the first one to use that email address. Waaaay back in 1999 when I registered blakecrosby.com. I challenge anyone else to say they've used a me@blah.com email address before me. I complained to Gord today that we dont hang out anymore. I miss the old days of Chinook after the gym. Ever since him and Andrew got to be better friends they do more things together (probably because their schedules are more alike). Anyways, toute la gang is over at Gords place right now chilling - it's a shame I always find out after the fact. Let me know if you guys are doing stuff, so that I can chill with you! I might be buying a condo this weekend.... stay tuned. Nintendo Thumb Monday, November 3, 2003 - 23:11:29 Permalink | On this day in 2000 SSX3 is consuming more and more of my time! It's such a wicked game. If you love snowboarding and have a game cube out there, buy it - you'll love it. Went to London this weekend with the crew. Left on Friday with a packed car (drove Arden, Mark, and Cara). It wasn't as action packed as it was the last time I was there. Saturday night we just ended up staying inside watching movies/tv and drinking away. It's amazing how quickly a 110lbs girl gets drunk (you are 110lbs, right Cara?). I finally have some picture of Cara online (happy Sue?). There's sleepy Cara, cuddly Cara, and "Oh no! A camera!" Cara. Work has been nuts lately. I've spent the whole last week and today sandboxing our web applications. There is this one java servlet that's taking down the whole site. So in an attempt to isolate it, we are breaking the site up into their own sandboxes. A sandbox is a separate http and tomcat process running on the same machine. That way if the rogue application crashes, only the sandbox dies and not the whole machine. I'm going to be spending tomorrow writing documentation.. yay. I've been in discussion with a tech guy at AT&T in the states about some of the Google scripts i've written. He's modifying it quite a bit, excited to see what he comes up with too. The new website is on hold. I can't create a "water droplet" shape in Illustrator :( If anyone can point me to a tutorial, or email me a .ai file of the water drop shape, that'd be great! It's supposed to snow on Friday. It's been unseasonably warm this October/November. I'm anxious to get the snow on the ground so that I can hit the slopes with my snowboard! |
