Seat Selection Criteria

I'm sitting on the bus. I'm watching people as they climb aboard. Naturally the bus is about half full and there is 1 person per 2 seat section. As each new person comes on, you can see their eyes scanning the seats. People are deciding on where they want to sit. What are they thinking about? How do they assess what person they want to sit with.

Just want to thank the 4 or 5 people who helped me with my Trig question in my last entry. I honestly didn't think that anyone would answer. As soon as I started going over the math, it all started coming back to me.

Cara and I have a new understanding for each other now.

The rest of the crew is going to Tremblant this weekend. Cara and I are planning on hitting the slopes either sat or sun. Not sure what the rest of my plans for this weekend will be. Maybe I will get my website redesign done. I'm starting to not like the one I have in the works - we'll see.

I went to Montreal for the day yesterday. It was my first "Business Trip". It felt kinda cool to be able to go someplace on company money. I literally commuted to Montreal. The time in the air was shorter than the time it took me to get from the airport to work.

Trigonomawhat?

It's been another cold week in the T-Dot. A very odd January indeed. It's getting even more busy at work. So much so that I requested for a palm pilot. They graced me with a Tungsten T. I'm also going to Montreal on Wednesday... that should prove to be interesting.

Snowboarding yesterday was pretty good. Cold, but good. I ended up wiping out a few times and my legs were actually sore by the end of the night. If we weren't in the park, I was free riding pretty hard.

In an application i'm working on, I need to know trigonometry. This is probably the first time *ever* that i've had to use some serious math in one of my programs. Ironically enough, this is also the first perl script that i've wrote that generates graphics. So, can anyone out there answer my question:

I have point "A" at (100,100). I want point "B" to be 100 units away from point A and n degrees from point A.

n Degrees can be any angle (0°/90° is along the X axis, not the Y, in this case).

In the end I hope to write a pretty customizable set of subroutines that will quickly allow me to add "components" to a dynamic network diagram. (You shouldn't be getting exciting unless you are a nerd).

There has been some argument and political tension at work about Flash Videos. There is a video (link to the real media one) that has generated a shit load of traffic on Friday as the link has been emailed around to a few thousand people. It was only then (when the video started generating 40Mbit/s of traffic) that the "higher ups" really understood what we meant about how the delivery of Flash Video doesn't allow us to control bandwidth.

100cm?! Oh my!

It's been a pretty crazy week! And another cold one at that.

Last night, both Mark and I had to work late. We decided to take a cab together home (yay for work paying). When we arrived to our cars (which had been parked at the train station all day) neither of them would start. We tried for about 10-15 minutes then decided it was time to call our parents to come pick us up. Wasn't fun at all. Mark had to boost his car the next day to get it going, I got mine going no problem. This temperature is definitely not normal for this time of year.

I got an email from Cara! Yippe! It talks about Valentines day and an idea she had. It sounds intriguing.

I found out today that Sarah and Craig broke up. This makes for a very interesting situation for the Kicking Horse trip. I told Mark a few months ago (when we were originally planning for this trip) that I had a feeling something is going to go down between then and the trip. Indeed it has. Although I don't know all the facts yet.. I'm sure everything will be all right.

Tonight was spent at Andrews house chilling. Mark and I had some tasty Chinook food, watched some Sopranos, then headed over. The original plan was to see a movie but that fell through. I also found out tonight that Mark is going to Ottawa avec toute la gang. I'm not going to go. I really don't want to go there for two days (of which only 1 will be spent snow boarding). I don't want to spend the money either. I figure it would be a good opportunity to spend some time with Cara or maybe go down to London with my brother. I have a feeling work is going to get in the way that weekend as well.

Tomorrow is going to be spent snow boarding. 100cm base at Blue! Can't wait! I am also going to attempt to get up early to take care of some work. Batteries for my camera are charging. However, be prepared to expect most of the pictures to be of me.

I heard (through the grapevine) that someone I knew from high school got busted for kiddie porn (and possession of weed). It was apparently in the thursday edition of the Toronto Sun.

Brrr, Big Fish, Shitty Food

On friday, we all headed up to the movies to see "Big Fish". Very good movie indeed. Eight out of Ten on the "Blake Movie Scale". Go see it.

This weekend was good and cold. Went snowboarding with the gang. Cara has progressed really well! She's able to turn now. She was starting to get discouraged with her self, but being the persistent little girl she is; progress was made. It was bloody cold too. We did our traditional meal at Kelsey's. Except the stupid server didn't order my food right I had to re-order it! By the time it arrived everyone else had finished. It was free, but that's not the point.

I've been having shitty food service lately. No matter where I decide to eat this past week.

Today Mark, Gord, and I headed up to the mall. For some reason HMV only had full screen versions of "The Italian Job". Pfft, why the hell would anyone get anything but letterbox? Pissed me off. And of course they ask: "Would you like us to order it in for you?". I declined. I ended up buying "Call of Duty" (take a look at the trailer). I've been playing it for the past 2 hours. So addictive. You really have to stick with your teammates to get things done. I really feel like I'm in the middle of a movie - That's how immersive it is! The missions are intense.... definitely got my adrenaline rush.

I also got a copy of 1080 Avalanche for Game Cube. I'm not too impressed. The controls seem sluggish (compared to SSX3). I was playing it for about 2 hours and I STILL couldn't figure out how to link up combos. The controls are to be desired. I'm going to give it a day or so before making my final decision. As it stands right now, SSX3 is still better!

Work is going really well. I've got two major projects that I'm having a lot of fun with. The new guys should be starting soon. which will allow me to concentrate even more on these projects.

Shoppar

Cara popped in today after she was done work. We had some lunch, then headed over to Ikea. I picked up a Skubb and a Gosa Kela. I was in need of both since my pillow and laundry hamper were falling apart.

Headed over to Chinook for dinner, then Gord's place for X2. Came home, watched some TV then went to bed.

I'm on call with work tomorrow night from 7pm until 1am. That sucks.

Cara! You left a whole wack load of stuff here, food, clothes.. tsk tsk.

Two Thousand and Four

It's been a while since i've done a "real update". My christmas was interesting. Spent it mostly with friends because my parents were out west visiting my uncle. It was nice to have the house to my self, however I spent most of my time elsewhere. Cara got me a hoodie, t-shirts, and a cool photography book on Australia (just shots and pics of aussie landscape).

New Years was good too. Spent it at Andrews place. Some pictionary, drinking, pizza.. good times. I ended up crashing at 2:30 or so - was pretty tired.

My room is a fucking mess (what else is new), so today is dedicated to cleaning this shit hole up. Clothes, computers, bills are strewn all over the place.

I still need to upload the Montreal pictures. I might have time to do that today.

The weather has been shit for snowboarding. Warm as hell (8C) for the past two weeks. Rain and more rain just melt all the snow. It's bare here.. Blue mountain is reporting a 40CM base with barespots. Shitty :(

I am in the works of revamping my website. Perhaps I will get that done today (or at least this weekend) as well. Hopefully I will be able to get all the "neat" things done so that I can display them on my page. shhhh! it's a secret.

Happy New Year Everyone.
