Steak Salad: Recipe
Monday, August 27, 2007 - 09:08:36 Permalink | On this day in 2002 For those of you who were at the BBQ a few weeks ago and enjoyed my steak salad. Here is the recipe. - Flank Steak
Marinate the steak for at least 24 hours in the Strong Garlic VH Sauce. Once marinated, toss the steak on the BBQ. For best results cook until it is medium rare. Because of the sugar in the VH Sauce, it tends to burn if you attempt to cook the meat to a well done state on higher heat. Cut the steak against the grain. This is important, otherwise it will be tough and stringy. I like to place the knife at a 45 degree angle while making my slices. Any juices that are left behind on your cutting board can be poured over the meat in your serving dish. Slice your red onion into half rings. Peel and slice your oranges into half-wheels. Mix the oranges, onions, and meet onto a serving plate. Just before serving, pour the "dressing" you prepared the night before over the meat and enjoy! BBQ A Success Tuesday, August 14, 2007 - 09:08:40 Permalink | On this day in 2002 Melissa and I hosted a BBQ this past weekend. It was a combination of BBQ and housewarming. It was good to see everyone together again (the old gang) plus a few people from work showed up too! I would like to thank everyone for the gifts they brought us. They will be be put to good use *rubs liver*. This was the first event that was organized solely using Facebook. Its a great tool if all the people you want to invite are actually signed up to the website. You can send people messages, post photos of the event, map to the venue, comments, etc.. The turnout was great and it was a good addition to the summer. Thanks for everyone who dropped by! Garmin GPSmap C530 Sunday, August 5, 2007 - 18:08:02 Permalink | On this day in 2002 This is my new toy. I got it in anticipation of a road trip to help me navigate where I'm going in the states. So far I've been impressed with it so far. There are essentially two modes, Navigation mode and what I'm going to call "Map mode". The navigation mode is pretty self explanatory: You tell it where you want to go and it will hold your hand along the quickest route. One of the cool features is the "ETA" clock. With my limited dealings with the unit so far, it's been pretty accurate, to the minute in fact. The "Map Mode" is even cooler. It tells you which direction you're heading on what street (for example "East on Front Street."), which is handy. It also tells you what the next upcoming street is. The voice prompts are handy, and pretty accurate. It gives you enough time to change lanes to exit a highway, for example. The unit gives you a "heads up" notice that you have to perform an action shortly, and a "do it now" notice. So for example: "In 1 km, turn right". If the turns are tighter, it tell you a head of time: "In 1 km, turn right, then turn left". There are multiple languages to choose from, including British and American English. I chose the British one (which happens to be a woman) as she sounds more official than the American man. I'm just reading up on some other neat things you can do with the unit, especially things like loading your own custom points of interest. I can load up all the Tim Hortons, or red light cameras on the unit and it will display them on the map. I'm Back! Thursday, August 2, 2007 - 12:08:03 Permalink | On this day in 2005 It's been a long long time since I last posted on here. but I'm back! I've upgraded the site to the latest release candidate of MT 4. I will also be back to my old self posting a few times a week. A site redesign is in the works as well - no more of this depressing black/night theme. Comments have also been turned on again. So post away! |
