Feature: A Day In The Life...

A typical day involves taking public transit into work, doing my thing, coming home, going to the gym, and then relaxing. On this particular day however I was supposed to head to a concert (Sum41) but was later canceled a few hours earlier because of an illness in the band.

Lets see how my day went on February 3rd, 2005.

As usual, my alarm goes off at 7am. I dont usually get outta bed until 7:10 or so. Buzzer or Radio? I used to use the buzzer all the time, but recently (after I got my new alarm clock - pictured here) I have been waking up to the radio. Which station? 102.1 The Edge.

My alarm clock is also set about 5 minutes fast. That is to offset the fact that I don't get up until five or ten minutes later.

I usually end up stretching for a bit, arms, legs, back. It really wakes me up and rids of that "slothy" feeling. Then it's off to the shower!

My shower routine doesn't usually take more than ten or fifteen minutes. Nothing too exciting here...

I dont normally eat breakfast but instead just drink a glass of juice before I head out. By the time i'm out of the door it is around 7:40am. The train departs Aurora at 7:50, so that leaves me with exactly ten minutes to get to the train station and punch my pass.

The train ride is about 50 minutes. I normally sit with my friend Mark. Most of the time we just sleep, provided that there arn't any distractions like the bitchy divorced lady or the group of women we like to call "the hens". The train ride isn't very exciting, it only makes four stops before arriving in the city.

Once we arrive to union station, it's only a 10 min walk to my building. By this time, its abour 8:55am. Just enough time to get some breakfast and relax before the day starts! I didn't do that today, however. One of the places I have to walk through to get to work is called "The Skywalk". This is a walkway that leads to Rogers Centre (AKA: Skydome). At least once a month there is a film crew there filming television commercials or movies.

Left: The Skywalk     Right: My Building

The rest of the day i'm at my desk. Work is work and nothing really exciting happens then ;) Most of the time I eat my lunch in the food court that is under the building. Today, however, I opted for Quiznos which is a 3 min walk away.

Once work is done, I usually end up walking back to union station and catch the Go Train back home (where I would proceed to hit the gym, eat dinner, then relax). However, today i'm staying in the city to have dinner with my girlfriend (then head off to a concert, which was later postponned to another date).

Into the subway we go!

Thats my day in a nutshell. exciting? hardly. Interesting? possibly.
